Adding a Defect to an Open Inspection

Adding a Defect to an Open Inspection

Drivers are responsible to ensure that their vehicles are continuously monitored for defects while they are being operated throughout the workshift. National Safety Code Standard 13 states:

While driving and/or otherwise being in charge of a commercial vehicle, the driver shall monitor its condition in accordance with the schedule of inspection items, and when defects are detected, the driver shall record the defects on the inspection report and report the defects to the motor carrier prior to the next required inspection.

Since new defects can present themselves after a vehicle is initially inspected at the start of the work-shift, it's important for drivers to be able to add the defect to their inspection. Here's how:
  1. On the ComplianceBox mobile application, find the open inspection for the vehicle in which you need to add a defect. Click the "Add Defect" Button.

  2. Select the category of the defect that needs to be added to the inspection:

  3. Select the defect to add to the vehicle and click "Submit".

  4. The defect has now been added to the inspection and it will now update the vehicles status:
